There’s something undeniably magical about entertaining in the garden, twinkling lights above and the scent and sounds of night air. But as the sun dips below the horizon, so too does the temperature. Over the years, I’ve perfected a few simple touches that ensure my guests stay warm, comfortable, and lingering long into the night.

Cushions Galore – Soft, Squishy Comfort
I start with the foundation of comfort: plenty of cushions. Not just the token seat pads either, I’m talking about oversized, squishy, sink-into-me kind of cushions in every chair and bench. They make any outdoor seat feel instantly luxurious, and they hold warmth beautifully. I mix textures, linens, wool blends, for a layered look that invites you to settle in and stay awhile. Our Lemon Linen Cushions come in 2 sizes and styles, making them so gorgeous for stacking and creating that cosy atmosphere.

A Blanket for Every Chair
Each chair comes prepped with its own blanket or throw, neatly draped and ready for use. I keep a mix of chunky knits, fleece-backed tartans, and thick cotton throws to suit every comfort level. They’re not just practical, they’re part of the aesthetic. If you don’t have enough blankets for everyone, have a basket of jumpers, or cardigans that your guests can wrap around themselves.

Firelight and Warmth – The Magic of Wood-Burning Fire Pits
Nothing beats the natural glow and gentle crackle of a wood-burning fire pit. I’ve dotted a few around the garden to create pockets of warmth and ambiance. They're not just sources of heat, they’re gathering points, conversation starters, and the heart of many great evenings.

Entertaining outdoors doesn’t have to stop when the temperature drops a little in the evening.. With the right touches, comfort, warmth, and a little bit of thoughtful charm, you can create a garden experience your guests will never forget. The key is to anticipate their needs before they do.
